Lift Safety
Lift safety is foremost in the mind of a Liftsurvey consultant from the first contact with the client to the final handover of any modernisation project.
The British Standards, on which any modernisation project is based, are aimed at lift safety. They recommend minimum lift safety standards with which all modernised lifts should comply.
Lift safety is not just about passengers who will use the end product. If an accident is going to happen, statistics tell us that it is more likely to be an engineer working on the lift who will be hurt. It is vital that lift safety is ensured by good working practises dictated by risk assessments and accurate method statements.
Most people and companies will comply with their Health & Safety obligations by asking a modernisation contractor to provide risk assessments and method statements before site work starts but few have the expertise to interpret them.
To ensure lift safety on your site, you can commission the services of a Liftsurvey consultant to examine and determine if the documents are adequate. We can then supervise the site work to make sure the contractor works safely in compliance with the risk assessments and method statements.
Many famous people have quoted “If you think safety is expensive try having an accident”.
